ECHO (Emergency and Community Health Outreach) exists to provide health and safety information during both emergency and non-emergency times to people who speak limited English. ECHO wants to reach the largest number of people possible with these important messages. So it is providing information on the Web, on television (ECHO TV), through community partners (ECHO Fax) and over the telephone through ECHO Phone.

ECHO Phone, 1-888-883-8831, provides useful health advice when there are no local or statewide emergencies. Examples of this advice includes how to keep from getting sick with vomiting and diarrhea illnesses or why you should avoid close contact with chickens, ducks and other birds if traveling to Asia, Europe or Africa.

You can choose ECHO Phone health information in 10 languages: Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Lao, Khmer, Vietnamese, Russian, Arabic, Oromo or English. It takes only a few minutes to listen to the information. You can also get information about the latest ECHO TV topic. Calls are free from anywhere in Minnesota. Try it: 1-888-883-8831.

In a major local or statewide emergency, ECHO Phone will provide emergency information to help keep you and your family safe and healthy. The information in 10 languages will be recorded on the line and updated regularly.
